Key takeaways
- Cutout.Pro is a broad, credit-metered toolkit for image and video work: background removal, retouching, enhancement, colorizing, passport photos, cartoon selfies, AI art and video background removal in one account. One-click background removal is the part reviewers consistently praise for speed and simplicity. A June 2026 hands-on test found fine hair and glass edges still needed manual cleanup and that manual control is limited.
- The product began in Hong Kong in 2018 as a one-click background remover, built by a team that needed to process large volumes of e-commerce imagery. It has since widened into photo restoration, generation, e-commerce assets and video, and by mid-2026 the homepage was promoting third-party models such as GPT Image 2 and Seedance 2.5 alongside its own computer-vision tools.
- Pricing as of August 2026: a free account with free previews and 5 credits, image subscriptions from $5.00 a month for 80 credits up to $69.00 for 1,450, pay-as-you-go packs from $4.99 for 30 credits, and separate video packs from $19 for one minute. A background removal costs 1 credit and an enhancement costs 2. The 14-day money-back guarantee is capped at 50 downloads.
- Third-party estimates put traffic at about 9.6 million visits in June 2026, down from roughly 13.8 million in November 2025. Around 39% of visits come from India and a further 17% from Bangladesh. Neither figure has been confirmed by an independent analytics provider.
- The biggest caveat is data handling. Review sites repeat a 2023 open-database exposure claim and a February 2024 breach allegation involving emails, API keys and password hashes, which the company reportedly denied without publishing a post-mortem. The Android app's own Google Play data-safety panel says data may not be encrypted and cannot be deleted. Billing and support complaints also recur across 2024 to 2026.
What is Cutout.Pro?
Cutout.Pro is a cloud platform for editing images and generating video, reached through the browser, a Windows and macOS desktop app, Android and iOS apps, an API and a Shopify plugin. The homepage calls it an "AI Image Editing & Video Generation Platform". You upload a photo, a product shot or a clip, pick one of the named tools, preview the result for free and spend credits only when you download the full-resolution output.
What sets it apart from a single-purpose background remover is the range. The same account covers Image Retouch for object and watermark removal, Photo Enhancer and Upscaler, Photo Colorizer, Passport Photo, Cartoon Selfie, AI Art generation, and a video line that includes background removal without a green screen, enhancement, image-to-video, animated old photos, product video and digital presenters. Newer generation features run on third-party models, and as of mid-2026 the homepage was promoting GPT Image 2 and Seedance 2.5, the latter advertised at up to 30 seconds of video in one pass. The platform doesn't publish a complete, stable catalogue of which model sits behind each tool.
Around the product sits an API with per-call credit pricing, batch processing for catalogues, and the Shopify plugin for merchants. The company most closely associated with it is LibAI Lab, formerly picup.ai, a privately held Hong Kong team that LinkedIn lists at 15 employees. It has no documented outside funding.
How it works
Sign in and pick a tool
Create an account in the browser or the app. You get free previews and 5 credits, so you pay nothing to test the basics. Choose a workflow from the tool list: Background Remover, Image Retouch, Photo Enhancer, Colorizer, Passport Photo, Cartoon Selfie, AI Art or one of the video tools.
Upload a file or write a prompt
Upload the image or video, or enter a generation prompt for AI Art. Cutout.Pro validates and processes the file in the cloud. Previews up to 0.25 megapixels cost a quarter of a credit through the API and are free in the web tools.
Preview, then spend credits on the full result
Check the preview before committing. A successful full-resolution background removal or retouch costs 1 credit, and enhancer, colorizer, passport photo and cartoon selfie jobs cost 2. AI Art is priced by output size, from 3 credits at 512 by 512 up to 12 credits for the largest outputs. You pay for video by footage duration, not by credit.
Automate the repetitive part
Developers call the documented endpoints for background removal, face cutout, passport photo, retouching, enhancement, colorization and AI art, and are charged per successful call. Shopify merchants install the plugin, and batch users process whole catalogues instead of editing one file at a time. The API terms let Cutout.Pro block your access if more than 15% of your requests fail.
Features
AI Background Remover
The original product and still the core. It cuts the subject out of a photo and returns a transparent PNG or a replacement background, with a video version that removes backgrounds without a green screen. Each full-resolution image costs 1 credit. A June 2026 hands-on review found fine hair and glass edges imperfect, so expect manual cleanup on those.
Image Retouch
Removes unwanted objects, defects and watermarks from a photo. A successful full-resolution job costs 1 credit, and the API exposes the same operation as an endpoint.
Photo Enhancer and Upscaler
Sharpens low-quality photos and enlarges them, the tool most people reach for when restoring old family prints. Each enhancement costs 2 credits. The vendor's product list also names an anime enhancement variant.
Photo Colorizer
Adds colour to monochrome images at 2 credits per successful job. Paired with the enhancer, it covers the restoration workflow for scanned archives.
Passport Photo and Cartoon Selfie
Passport Photo produces ID-format images for 2 credits, and adding an outfit or suit change costs a second credit. Cartoon Selfie converts a portrait into a cartoon-style image for 2 credits.
AI Art and Background Diffusion
Generates images from a prompt or creates a fresh background around a cut-out subject. Pricing scales with resolution: 3 credits up to 512 by 512, then 6 and 12 credits for larger outputs. Generation runs on third-party models, with GPT Image 2 promoted on the homepage as of mid-2026.
Video AI
Video background removal, enhancement and upscaling, image-to-video, animated old photos, product video and digital-human presenter workflows. Seedance 2.5 is advertised for clips of up to 30 seconds in one pass. There is a free five-second 360p trial for background removal, after which you buy minutes.
API and integrations
Endpoints for every core image tool, charged in credits per successful call rather than through a separate subscription. The terms let you integrate the API into your own websites, apps and software but prohibit supplying the interface to third parties. There's also a Shopify plugin, plus desktop and mobile apps.
What people use it for
- Stripping backgrounds from a whole e-commerce product catalogue in a batch
- Restoring, colourizing and upscaling old family photographs
- Producing passport and ID photos at home
- Removing unwanted objects or watermarks from a shot
- Generating AI art, avatars and cartoon selfies
- Turning product stills into short social and advertising assets
- Automating image processing from a Shopify store or through the API
It isn't a substitute for a full professional editor when fine hair, glass, complex edges, precise masking or detailed manual retouching matter, because a June 2026 hands-on review found imperfect fine-hair and glass results and limited manual control.

Everything costs credits. Prices here are from the official image pricing page as of August 2026. A free account gives free previews forever plus 5 credits, with more available through invitation codes, and is meant for evaluation rather than unlimited full-resolution output. Subscriptions run from 80 credits a month for $5.00 to 1,450 for $69.00, with a custom tier by contact. The pricing page says subscription credits roll over up to five times your monthly budget while the plan is active, but the French terms say monthly credits expire at the end of each billing cycle, and that discrepancy is unresolved. Pay-as-you-go packs start at 30 credits for $4.99 and are stated to never expire. Video is sold separately by duration, from $19 for one minute to $1,299 for 330 minutes, and a June 2026 test caught a promotional $9 one-minute price, so check the live number at checkout. The 14-day money-back guarantee is a full refund if dissatisfied, restricted to 50 downloads, and the official page does not say pay-as-you-go purchases are refundable. An independent review says they are not. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time, but the page doesn't spell out the cancellation screen, cutoff or whether renewal stops immediately, and one 2026 review reported continued $9.90 charges after cancelling. Commercial rights depend on the tariff you buy, and non-commercial tariffs prohibit commercial use. No price or tier rename was found in the twelve months to August 2026.
Traffic & reach
These are third-party estimates from a scrape captured in August 2026, not company figures, and no independent analytics provider has confirmed them. The shape says more than the size. Visits have slid every month from about 13.8 million in November 2025 to about 9.6 million in June 2026, and more than six in ten come from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan combined, with the United States at 3%. Roughly 43% of visits arrive direct and 48% from organic search, which fits a bookmarked utility people return to for one job. The last public user figure, 3 million registered users, is a company-associated claim from a 2023 article and is stale.

Be the first to reviewWhat to know before you commit
What people rate it for. The consistent praise is speed and simplicity on one-click background removal. A verified Capterra reviewer in April 2024 gave it 5 out of 5 and said it helped a graphic designer earn from advertising work. The June 2026 hands-on review liked the unusually broad toolkit, batch processing, the low learning curve on the core tools and video background removal without a green screen. Google Play showed 4.6 out of 5 from 431 reviews for the Android app and AppBrain 4.29 from 470 ratings, but those rate the app, not every web feature.
The complaints are about billing and support, not only edges. The same 2026 review found fine hair and glass handled imperfectly, limited manual control, a cluttered interface and expensive video consumption. Trustpilot complaints describe failed jobs that still consumed credits, slow or absent refunds and unresponsive support, and a secondary 2026 review claimed a Trustpilot score of 1.8 out of 5 from 35 reviews, which has not been rechecked. One 2026 reviewer reported $9.90 charges continuing after cancellation with support emails unanswered. That's a single unverified account, but it fits a pattern that recurs across review sources from 2024 to 2026.
Two data-security allegations remain unresolved. Review-site material repeats a Cybernews claim that open Elasticsearch servers exposed about 9 GB of user data in 2023, reported in 2024. Separately, Trustpilot posts and a 2026 review say data appeared on BreachForums in February 2024, with claims of millions of records including emails, IP addresses, API keys and password hashes. The secondary review says the company denied the breach and published no post-mortem. No primary incident notice, regulator finding or full company response was located, so the scope is unconfirmed either way.
The mobile app's own safety panel is a warning. Google Play's developer-provided data-safety panel for the Android app says photos and videos may be collected, device IDs may be shared, data is not encrypted and cannot be deleted. Android reviewers also report permission failures, crashes, poor output and heavy advertising. The Android listing was last updated on 30 January 2025 even though the web platform kept shipping into 2026.
The terms do not promise your images are never used for training. The terms prohibit you from using the service for AI research or to generate training data, but they do not clearly say Cutout.Pro itself never uses uploads to train models. The April 2026 privacy explainer discusses retention and optional reuse in general terms. You warrant that you hold rights to anything you upload, and the service is cloud-based, so keep confidential, biometric or legally sensitive images out until you have checked the privacy policy and DPA directly.
The scale claims are the company's own. The 3 million registered users figure comes from a 2023 article and is company-associated. The 15 employees, 28.6% year-on-year headcount growth and 1,200 followers are LinkedIn-derived as of 2026. No revenue, run-rate, profitability or funding figure has been published, and Tracxn recorded the company as unfunded in 2022.
